Manchester and Pennine Waters Forum
Manchester and Pennine Waters Forum: 19 June 2014
Following last year's OUTBURST at the Lowry in Salford, and the recent Mersey Flow event at the Stockport Plaza Café, the 2014 Manchester and Pennine Waters Forum was an unmissable event for anyone with an interest in water and canals:
Something for everyone with an interest in our waterways, their sustainable future and the important role our canals and rivers have in the community. There were contributions from the areas of Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire, a highlight being project inspiration. A number of short "soapboxes" provided opportunities for anyone to speak.
Our guests included:
- Jo Bell - Canal laureate
- Richard Parry - CEO of Canal & River Trust
- Mark Garrett - Environment Agency.
The Forum, hosted jointly by the Mersey Rivers Trust and the Canal and River Trust, was held at the Mechanics Institute, 103 Princess Street, Manchester and was followed by a guided visit to the Rochdale Canal through the city centre - one of the most "challenging" canal stretches in England.
